Iron ore

Lump ore

Block ore is a kind of high-grade ore that can be directly put into the furnace. The powder ore and concentrate can only be put into the blast furnace after artificial block making. Among them, the powder ore is the main raw material for the production of sinter, and the concentrate is the main raw material for the production of pellets. Based on the demand of spot market, the target of iron ore futures trading is powder ore. The general physical particle size of block ore is 10-30mm.

The raw pellets with uniform viscosity and sufficient strength are made by adding a proper amount of water and binder to the powder. After drying and preheating, they are roasted in an oxidation atmosphere to make the raw pellets agglomerate and then the pellets are made. This method is especially suitable for the treatment of concentrate fines. Pellet has good cold strength, reducibility and particle size composition. In iron and steel industry, pellet and sinter are also important blast furnace burden, which can form a better burden structure together. It is also used in non-ferrous metal smelting.

There are mainly three kinds of roasting equipment for pellet: shaft furnace, belt roaster and grate kiln. Roasting with shaft furnace, the capacity of single machine is small, the heating is uneven, and the adaptability to raw materials is poor; however, the equipment is simple and the operation is convenient. The belt roaster is mainly DRAVO Lurgi type, which has the advantages of large single machine capacity, waste heat utilization system, simple and reliable equipment, convenient operation, etc.; it is the main equipment for pellet roasting in the world at present, and the pellet produced accounts for more than half of the world's total output. Grate kiln has the advantages of even roasting and large capacity of single machine, but there are many equipment links.
